Demise by John Welde of Baro in Writell (Essex), yeoman, John Welde, son of Thomas Welde of Wades, Richard Harrys of Writell, John Vynche of Ingabbas, and John Braynwode, son of William Braynwode of Roxwell, to Alice Taber, sometime wife of Thomas Tabor, mason, of Ingmargerete, Robert Sonde of Writell, John Smyth, son of William Smyth of Ingabbas, Robert Sonde, son of John Sonde, and John Taber, son of William Taber of Writell of 1 croft of land lying in Hyewode, called "Selwynnys," containing 5 acres of land and lying between the king's highway called "Dorestrete," and the land called "Fynchelande," and abutting on the land called "Wodelande," toward the north and on "Fynchelande" toward the south; which croft the grantors lately had of the gift of William Welde the Elder of Writell aforesaid by charter dated at Writell on the 18th say of May, 13 Henry VII [1498]; to hold to the use of the said Alice Taber forever for an annual rent of 16 pence due in 2 payments at the feast of the Annunciation and at Michaelmas. Given at Writell, 20 June, 15 Henry VIII.
